Master Vacuuming: Last (but certainly not least), learn to vacuum your home like the professionals, and improve your technique with these simple tips:

First things first – leave your shoes at the door to prevent dirt, leaves, and other outside filth from ending up on your floors.

Store attachments near the areas where you use them the most, to have them conveniently on hand when you need them.

High-traffic areas get the brunt of crumbs and dirt, so be sure to vacuum twice over those floors.

You’ll now feel happier with your results and hopefully, get to enjoy those soothing “pile lines” (a.k.a “vacuum lines”) at least for a couple of days. #14DaysOfClean #TheMaidsCleaningChallenge https://fcld.ly/c9uvg9j

Fire Up The Grill: Being quarantined is the perfect opportunity to take cooking outdoors. Burgers, hot dogs, steak and chicken all get a big flavor boost when cooked over an open flame or hot coals. But if the inside of your grill looks more like a charcoal briquette than metal, you may be dismayed from using it as often as you’d like. Here are some tips to keep your grill clean and ready-to-go whenever the moment strikes.

Charcoal grills. Fill a bucket with warm, soapy water and scrub down the inside and outside of your grill. Rinse. Use your wire brush to scrub off any crust that’s developed on the inside but switch to a microfiber or soft cloth for the outside to avoid scratching.

Gas grills. Once a year lift out the cooking grate and clean off the barrier above the burners. Make sure to disconnect the gas before taking out the cooking mechanisms. Give the burners a good once over to make sure none are clogged. Replace any lava rocks or ceramic briquettes. Scrub the inside with soapy water, rinse.

Soak the grates. No matter if you’re using gas or charcoal, give the grates a good soak.

You’re now ready for your family outdoor BBQ!

Don’t Forget Your Home Office Electronics: You won’t find “clean electronics” on most cleaning checklists, even though they are magnet for dust, dirt and grimy fingerprints (not to mention) difficult to clean. Research shows that smartphones carry more germs than toilet seats—up to 10 times more bacteria! Before you start spraying the disinfectant, be sure to:

Check the manufacturer’s manual before you clean your electronics.

Don’t spray cleaner or water directly onto electronics.

Disconnect electronics from power sources or remove the batteries before cleaning them.

With your home space suddenly becoming a customized home office, it’s best to make sure your electronics are at least shiny, clean, and using them will be a healthier experience. #14DaysOfClean #TheMaidsCleaningChallenge https://fcld.ly/94ubumw

Organize The Mudroom: Now that everyone is at home, the mudrooms have been a dumping ground for All. The. Things. It’s easy to let a mudroom get cluttered and dirty, but when you organize your mudroom, it will create a space for easy searches: whether it’s gear, shoes, and even outside toys. Turning your mudroom into a functional, attractive space isn’t difficult with the right storage and organization. Arrange your mudroom based on how your family uses it, especially now in the quarantine time. Make it clear that this space is for everyone, so everyone is responsible for keeping it in shape. #14DaysOfClean #TheMaidsCleaningChallenge

Mattress Maintenance: As part of any thorough bedroom cleaning, it’s time to freshen up your faithful mattress. Your mattress can aggravate allergies and other health problems if you don’t give it a good vacuuming and cleaning periodically. Vacuum your mattress on all sides and add ten drops of your favorite essential oil to a box of baking soda and sprinkle it all over. Your bed will smell awesome, and all those critters and pollutants will be long gone. When you’re done - make your bed. It will make your home look and feel cleaner. #14DaysOfClean #TheMaidsCleaningChallenge https://fcld.ly/ithev0z

Control The Pet Hair: Instead of eliminating black pants (aka: quarantine leggings) from your wardrobe, grab a pair of rubber or latex gloves; these are efficient at quickly catching the fur, and you probably already have some tucked away under the kitchen sink. Another great tool for eradiating hair, specifically from furniture upholstered with woven material, is a dish sponge. With the rough side down, rub the sponge across the furniture to gather the hair for easy pickup. At last but not least, during spring shedding season, an excellent tool for keeping a pet home clean is the trusty lint roller. #14DaysOfClean #TheMaidsCleaningChallenge

Deep Clean Those Kitchen Appliances: Like most things in our homes, it’s helpful to maintain your appliances by cleaning them regularly. Gas stoves, refrigerators, and ovens are expensive pieces of equipment and a regular deep clean ensures they keep working great.

Gas Stove: Remove grates and burners and place in the kitchen sink. Add a pea-sized amount of grease-cutting dish soap to a damp sponge and scrub to release spills and dirt. Rinse the sponge clean and repeat to remove any soap residue. Use a kitchen towel or microfiber cloth to buff out the watermarks. https://fcld.ly/ox02ga2

Stainless Steel: While perfectly shiny upon installation, stainless steel appliances can quickly accrue fingerprints and smudges after just a few uses. We recommend trying out a natural combination first: club soda, vinegar + oil, or mild dish soap + oil. https://fcld.ly/ddwqhvu

Oven: Grab some baking soda and vinegar to start. Remove oven racks and clean the sides with ¾ cup of baking soda to the bowl and coat the inside and generously coat the inside of the oven with the paste. Either scrape off the dried paste the next morning with a plastic scraper or use a damp sponge to remove. https://fcld.ly/dl9riyp

Conquer The Kid Room: If you find yourself walking by your child’s room for the umpteenth time during quarantine and shaking your head, it’s probably because you can’t stand the thought of such a mess. If you make cleaning up more fun, you may be able to keep your child’s interest for the big cleanup ahead.

Grab a pair of funky dish gloves or microfiber cleaning mittens disguised as cute little animals or whatever strikes your funny bone.

Slip your feet into a pair of microfiber mop slippers and get moving on your hard surface floors like vinyl and tile.

Tell a story while you clean or whatever else you can do to help them have fun and still get the job done.

Older kids may need some different incentives to get them in the cleaning mood, so be patient. Less clutter and more organization makes keeping their room clean easier for them and for you. #14DaysOfClean #TheMaidsCleaningChallenge https://fcld.ly/60xph2c

Easy Disinfecting With Bleach: Rubber gloves? Check. Face mask? Check. Biohazard suit? Check. Wait, what? Cleaning with bleach isn’t scary or toxic. Bleach is actually one of the best and least expensive cleaning products you can use, and you probably already have it in your home. As the numbers of confirmed cases of COVID-19 rise on a daily basis, it’s absolutely crucial to take necessary precautions to help stall the community spread of this serious illness. Bleach can help with that.

It also will not damage equipment or hard, nonporous surfaces, including stainless steel, plastics, glazed ceramics, glass, porcelain and other materials. It can be used to safely clean and disinfect countertops, floors, toilets, sinks, trash cans, keyboards, phones, light switches, and desks. Always remember though, bleach does not play nice with other cleaners, so don’t mix and be extra careful around porous surfaces so as not to cause unintentional damage.#14DaysOfClean #TheMaidsCleaningChallenge

Tackle The Shower: Shower doors can become covered with grime and scum that can lead to mold and mildew. Mix baking soda and water into a thick paste and rub it on the doors with a non-abrasive sponge. Let it sit and rinse with vinegar. If your shower doors slide, don’t forget to clean the aluminum tracks that guide them. Plug the drain holes with a piece of a cotton ball, fill the track with vinegar, let it sit overnight and then rinse away all that gunk. Say goodbye to soap scum, mold and mildew and say hello to a fresh bathroom. #14DaysOfClean #TheMaidsCleaningChallenge https://fcld.ly/m9trh82
