Everyday cooking often leaves oil splatters and splashes on the stove top. When they are cooked on it becomes a little bit harder to remove them.
Here are some tips to clean your stove top:

Moisten a sponge or soft cloth with water and add a small amount of dish detergent and wipe the stove top. Rinse the sponge or cloth frequently and wipe away all the residue. The dish soap will cut through the grease allowing it to be removed.
For harder areas mix a paste with baking soda and water; apply the paste to the greasy areas and allow it to set for several minutes.
Scrub the area with a soft cloth or sponge. The baking soda acts as a mild abrasive that will remove the greasy residue. Once the grease is removed, wipe the excess baking soda away and wash and rinse the surface completely.

Snow time!!!
And with snow it comes salt in our homes. Salt is a huge problem on wood and laminate floors. It can eat through the protective coating and the abrasive texture of the salt can produce small scratches on the surface.
We suggest using a door mat to soak up as much salt and snow as possible before you vacuum.
And a homemade cleaning solution may work better than some commercial products.
Fill a bucket with one part warm water and one part white vinegar and mop your floors
If the vinegar does not cut through all of the salt stains, fill a bucket with warm water and a small amount of dish detergent and gently scrub the areas with a soft clean cloth.

A few more days and that beautiful Christmas tree will be gone and the pine needle will be your worst nightmare.
On floors or on carpeted areas you will want to use a rubber broom. It is hands down the quickest and most efficient tool for removing every last pine needle from your floors. It will work on both carpet and hard floors, so if you have pine needles on the ground, use the rubber broom.

Treating Carpet Spills and Stains:

Liquid Spills and Stains
1. Blot up as much of a liquid spill as possible. Use clean white cleaning cloths or white paper towels to avoid dye transfer. Continue to blot gently, using fresh cloths, until no more liquid can be absorbed.
2. Don't scrub or brush the stain.
3. Apply an appropriate carpet spot remover. Spot-test the product in an inconspicuous place before using.

Solid or Semi-Solid Spills and Stains
1. Use a spoon or spatula to scrape up as much of the spilled material as possible. Don't use a knife, even a blunt one, as it can harm carpet fibers.
2. Allow the spill to dry, then brush gently to release it from carpet fibers. Vacuum up as much of the spilled material as possible.
3. Treat any remaining stain with an appropriate spot-remover.

Spring Cleaning for Allergy Suffers

Destroy mold and mildew indoors by cleaning under the refrigerator, washing and disinfecting garbage cans, thoroughly scrubbing bathrooms, and cleaning or changing shower curtains. If you have a basement, you should examine and clean it thoroughly. Mold and mildew flourish in damp environments. You can help prevent the growth of mold and mildew with humidity control products.

Outside of your house remove any wet piles of leaves, grass, or mulch; mold spores are airborne particles that can easily float indoors.

Wash bedding, using hot water. Special laundry additives and detergents help kill dust mites and eliminate other allergens.

Dust mites live in carpets and upholstery, too. Treat carpets and upholstery with a powder that neutralizes or kills dust mites.

Clean mini-blinds thoroughly. Better yet, get rid of them and replace them with vertical blinds or washable window dressings. Window blinds are dust traps.

Vacuum as if your life depends on it! Move aside furniture to reach every nook and cranny. Those rarely vacuumed spots may not look dirty, but invisible allergens have a way of collecting in these undisturbed corners. If you don't already have one, get a HEPA filter vacuum cleaner.

Dust everything. Electrostatically charged cloth, which traps dust, or a vacuum attachment designed specifically for dusting. Don't forget to dust above your head as well: light fixtures, ceiling fan blades, and the tops of cabinets and armories.

Keep your house well-ventilated while cleaning. If the pollen outside is stopping you from opening windows, consider running the air conditioning and indoor air purifiers to keep the air well-ventilated and clean.

Change the filters on your air conditioners, air purifiers, dehumidifiers, windows, and vent registers. Since you just clean your house, you want all the incoming air to be clean, fresh, and breathable.

Wood furniture care
Dust your piece of furniture with a soft cloth. Occasionally use a cloth just barely dampened with solvent-based cleaning wax to wipe the surface to pick up more dust, and immediately wipe with a dry cloth.

Occasionally wax with paste (carnauba) wax. Rub on a very light coat with a soft cloth with the grain of the wood; then buff at once with soft cloth, turning often, until wax coating is hard. (Old cotton tee-shirts are good.) Be sure all wax is completely buffed until hard to avoid smears and streaks. A small electric polisher could help on all smooth surfaces; wipe surface gently with clean soft cloth after applying wax to remove any loosened soil and then let set several minutes (following wax label directions) before power buffing. An occasional re-buffing will renew the soft gloss. Paste wax helps cover small cracks and checks in old finishes, and can easily be removed with solvent when desired.

Winter and dust
Homes get very dusty in the winter because the air is so warm and dry. Dust your home's surfaces from top to bottom to help keep the dust to a manageable level. Don't forget ceiling fan blades, the tops of window moldings and lighting fixtures. Many people also opt to get their home's air ducts professionally cleaned. This will not only drastically reduce the amount of dust, germs and allergens floating around, but it can also help your furnace run more efficiently.

Winter tips
Cleaning windows in freezing temperatures:
For below freezing temperatures, use cold water and add Methanol (hot water will evaporate the alcohol). Methanol can be found in Windshield Washer Fluid. Mix it in your water and clean your windows. Vary amounts of Methanol to your water depending on how cold the glass is. The colder the glass, the more windshield washer fluid to water ratio you'll need.
Methanol is poisonous. Read carefully the MSDS, Material Data Safety Sheet, on the products you use.
